What is a domain name?

A domain name is the name of a website that points to the actual location of the website on the internet. Eg. www.slyce.co.za or www.yourwebsite.co.za.

What is web hosting?

Web Hosting refers to the hosting of your website on a web server (computer) that allows it to be viewed on the internet. The domain name points to the web server, where the files of your website are actually located. What is a URL?

A URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is a websites complete address. Eg. http://www.slyce.co.za or http://www.yourwebsite.com.

How many e-mail addresses can I register with my web design package?

Slyce Online offer unlimited e-mail addresses with the purchase of any of our hosting/web design packages.

Can I transfer my domain to Slyce Online?

Yes you can. We can take care of the process on your behalf.

Can I choose Slyce Online to design my website but keep my own hosting?

Yes you can. Your web host will have to meet the minimum requirements of your website. It will need to fully support PHP and MySQL databases for a start.

Do you offer any discounts

We offer discounts to non profit organisations as well as educational institutions.

What is a CMS?

A CMS (Content Management System) is a platform on which websites are built allowing for easy editing and addition of content and functionality for your website. They can be set up to allow easy editing of the content from your side, if needed.

Can I get a copy of my website?

Yes. Your website will only be viewable on a web server as it is built in PHP and MySQL but we can give you copies of everything via CD or E-mail. We keep local backups of all of our websites as well as having a completely redundant backup system at our data centers.

I have an existing website, can you redesign it?

Yes. We would happily put together a custom redesign package for you to spruce up and modernise your existing website.

I have an existing website, can you update it for me?

Yes, we would be happy to look at your existing website and put together a package for you for the updating of it.
